Stewardship

Scriptures provides the key to understand the principle of stewardship.  We must then apply the principle to our daily life.  The best place to start is always at the beginning.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”  (Genesis 1:1)

God is the Creator and the Sustainer of everything.  He has absolute rights of ownership over all things.  If we miss this truth, nothing going forward will make sense.  You and I must agree to the fact that God is the Creator and has full rights of ownership.  Now that we understand this truth, we must believe and respond to the doctrine of stewardship.

The Biblical doctrine of stewardship identifies God as owner and man as manager.  God entrusts us with the administration of all aspects of our life.  Stewardship is not God taking something from us; it is His divine plan of bestowing His richest gifts upon His people.

Principles of Stewardship

  • Stewardship defines our practical obedience in the administration of everything under our control, everything entrusted to us.  It is the consecration of one’s self and possessions to God’s service.

  • Stewardship acknowledges in practice that we do not have the right of control over ourselves or our property — God has that control.  It means, as stewards of God, we are managers of that which belongs to God, and we are under His constant authority as we administer His affairs.

  • Stewardship means that we fully acknowledge that we belong to Christ, the Lord, who gave Himself for us.

Aspects of Stewardship

  1. Talent: God has given each one of us ability let’s use our God given abilities for His glory during this time…1 Peter 4:9-11
  2. Time: Use your time wisely!  Before you know it, we will be back to our regular schedules.  Redeem this time for the Lord! Ephesians 5:15-18
  3. Treasure: It is important to continue to give to the work of your local church. Luke 12:34

In Conclusion:

2 Corinthians 9:7 -- Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver.

I Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Will you give of your time to pray for others, your talents to encourage others, and your treasure to support God's work?
